RENTAL REQUIREMENTS & POLICIES
We require all customers to meet the minimum requirements listed below. Please read carefully.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Your safety—and that of your passenger—is our top priority.
  • A valid state or international driver’s license is required and must be presented prior to operation. The Polaris Slingshot is classified as a motorcycle/autocycle and does not require a motorcycle endorsement in California.
  • Renters must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Only the documented renter is permitted to operate the vehicle. Any violation of this policy is a breach of the rental agreement.
  • A $500 credit card hold is placed at the time of rental. This security deposit covers any damages incurred during the rental period.
    • The deposit will be released once the vehicle is returned and inspected with no damage found.
    • Renters are encouraged to perform a thorough inspection before and after their trip.
  • For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, renters must demonstrate adequate driving ability. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the rental. No refund granted. 
    • Excessive clutch wear or transmission damage caused during the rental will be deducted from the security deposit.
  • Reckless operation is strictly prohibited, including tire spinning or “burnouts.”
    • Tire tread will be measured before and after the rental. Significant wear will result in tire replacement costs being deducted from the security deposit.

INSURANCE
  • Renters must provide full coverage insurance with coverage equal to or greater than $25,000 (vehicle value).
  • Proof of insurance must be presented prior to operation. Failure to provide valid coverage will result in cancellation without refund of the reservation fee (security deposit will be refunded).
  • It is the renter’s responsibility to verify insurance coverage before the rental period begins.
  • San Diego Slingshot Rentals assumes no liability for damages or injuries incurred during the rental period.
  • Renters are responsible for their own medical insurance. The company is not liable for injuries sustained during the rental.
  • The rental agreement does not cover damages resulting from:
    • Negligence
    • Illegal use of the vehicle
    • Operation under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Renters must not operate the vehicle if ill or under the influence of any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) that may impair driving ability.

CANCELLATION POLICY
  • Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a partial refund.
  • Weather-related cancellations may be eligible for a credit.
  • To cancel or inquire, contact us by phone or email.
  • No-shows will be charged the full rental amount.

RENTAL RETURNS
  • Vehicles must be returned at the agreed-upon time.
  • A 30-minute grace period is allowed.
  • After the grace period, a late fee of $100 per hour will apply.

REFUELING
  • Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup, Premium fuel only. 
  • A $50 refueling fee will be deducted from the security deposit if this requirement is not met.
